Apparently, games will have a Net-connected staging area, not to mention a proximity-based social tool – known as LiveArea and Near, respectively. The functions on those tools have been tweaked from what it originally was meant to be, with Near being a “gifting” system instead of a social discovery tool. This means you can leave presents at select locations that are (not surprisingly) accessible only to a select group of people (or everyone if you desire), where it will comprise of in-game items, challenges, and so on and so forth.
As for “LiveArea”, this will be an all-purpose update system that displays stuf such as notifications from friends, new DLC (downloadable content) and updates for games. What do you think? Will these help propel the Playstation Vita to levels that we gamers never thought possible as a portable gaming console?
