Windows XP users, if you thought that you could get away with running Windows XP for the next 10 years, you’re in for a disappointment, as Microsoft has recently come out and said that support for Windows XP will be ending in less than 1,000 days. What this means is that come somewhere in early 2014, Microsoft would have hoped you moved on to Windows 7 (or Windows 8, whatever is available then).
For those who may not have had the pleasure of using Windows XP, the operating system is currently 10 years old and is still being used by companies who have networked hundreds of computers which are still being powered by XP. There are probably individuals out there who are still clinging on to the operating system, believing it to be better than whatever Microsoft is offering at the moment.
Microsoft’s Stephen Rose was quoted as saying in a blog post:
“Wouldn’t it be great if the glory days lasted forever? But reality is trophies get dusty, records are broken, and what it took to be the best ten years ago, just isn’t enough for today’s standards. Things get better, faster. And eventually, it’s time to move from good enough to something much better.”
Are there any Windows XP users still out there who still refuse to upgrade to Windows 7? We’d love to hear from you, and why you’re still sticking it out with Windows XP even after all these years.
