Rama Skukla, vice president of Intel’s architecture group recently discussed the prediction during a keynote address at the SEMICON West conference in San Francisco. According to him, “tablets are disappearing”, which seems odd, seeing how iPad tablets are flying off the shelves at the moment. But he did mention that the lines between the netbook, laptop and tablet are fading – which is true to a certain extent. He believes that the concept of a personal computer is outdated and that future PCs will represent personal companions instead.
It’s hard to imagine a future without computers as we know it, but hey – anything is possible right? As to what will be replacing the aforementioned devices: he has no clue, saying that it “could not be described”. I wonder if it will be Intel-powered. What are your thoughts? Do you agree with Skukla’s statements?
