For those unfamiliar with MAME, it stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, and what it does is that it recreates the hardware of arcade game systems, and converts it into software for computers or other platforms. In the case of iMAME4All, it was created for iOS devices in mind.
The good news is that you will have access to all the retro arcade games that you used to play in the past, and it will be compatible with the iCade (who in turn supports the Atari Greatest Hits app for the iPad). The bad news is that the ROMs you download for the iMAME4All will be considered illegal. Owning MAME is not illegal and one could even think of it as owning a DVD player, which is completely legal, but yet buying pirated DVDs (or ROMs in the case of MAME) would be against the law. We just thought our readers should be aware of the legal ramifications before they rush out and go on a ROM-downloading spree.
For those interested in getting their hands on iMAME4All experimental support for the iCade, the download can be found here along with further instructions.
