When Capcom set out to create the Mega Man Legends 3 game for the Nintendo 3DS, they went about it in a rather novel way, by creating a forum called the “Devroom” where fans and players would be able to submit ideas and give feedback, all of which would affect how the final game would look like. The next stage would be to release a prototype of the game on the 3DS’s eShop and continue refining it further through feedback and ideas. Unfortunately fans and players of the classic series will be disappointed to know that Capcom has decided to scrap the game. According to Capcom, part of the reason why they created Devroom was to give players an insight into how game development works, but on Capcom’s end, Devroom was also a place for them to get feedback and assess whether the game had enough potential and demand to actually go into full production.
The assessment was said to be based on a number of criteria with input from different sectors of the company, and it appears that those requirements weren’t met, which is why the project has been scrapped and it looks like there won’t even be a prototype for fans and players to download.
We’re guessing that fans will be extremely disappointed, some probably even angry, and in all fairness can you blame them?
