Sony Vaio E: Updated

With this Vaio E update, Sony keeps the same spirit, but has unified the design to make it more consistent for all Series E models. Sony is using a new textured pattern on the laptop body which definitely gives the Vaio E a different look when compared to other laptops.

Users can purchase a Core i5 as the fastest option (although the more affordable Core i3 is also available). For the graphics, there’s a GeForce GT410M discrete GPU from NVIDIA with up to 1GB of video memory.  The 15.5″ version of the E-Series will also be available with an AMD E-350 dual-core processor and its Radeon 6130 GPU. This may be a better option for a longer battery life. As an option, Wireless Display (WiDi) can also be selected.Sony made a few external modifications, like moving the Power button to a different place where users won’t press it when grabbing the laptop. If you opt for a Windows “Pro” version, you can select “fresh start”, a configuration that comes with a “clean” Windows install, which is always nice and often boots faster.

Most people don’t know this, but Sony laptops come with a 1-year on-site service. Upon pressing the “assist” button, you can get help, and even schedule an appointment with a technician. It’s nice because you don’t have to send your laptop back for a week. Maybe the optical drive is out of commission, but that doesn’t prevent you from browsing the web can use your computer.

The new E-Series will come in pink, white, blue, black (only white and black for the 17″ version). Pricing starts at $550, but can go much higher depending on the options that you select.
