Those days of having not enough space on your laptop are coming to an end. Samsung has just announced the Spinpoint M8: a 1TB capacity internal hard disk drives for notebooks. Consisting of two 500GB platters, the 9.5mm thick hard disk drive is small enough to fit comfortably into mobile devices.
At makes use of advanced format technology (AFT) which raises the data storage density per unit area, enabling efficient and convenient data storage. It will also feature less components which will increase operation speeds by about 7% and decrease power consumption by 8%.
The Spinpoint M8 transfers data at 3 gigabits per second with its SATA interface and has an 8-megabyte buffer memory. It also makes use of Samsung’s EcoSeek and NoiseGuard technology for reduction in noise output during operation, and enhanced shock resistance to protect the disk from physical fracture and data loss.
No word on a release date, but Samsung has mentioned that the 1TB Spinpoint M8 will go on sale with a retail price of $129.00.
