Turn your Samsung smartphone into a mini TV with Smart View

Samsung Smart View

While people are busy trying to get videos streaming from their phones onto larger sized HDTVs, the folks over at Samsung are doing things the other way around. They have just released the Smart View app for the Samsung Galaxy S II – an app that allows users to stream images and videos from their TVs onto the phone.

Perfect for when you want to watch the TV somewhere else besides your living room – you won’t have to move your whole TV to enjoy entertainment elsewhere – just stream it onto your phone and you can enjoy videos out in your front porch or backyard where you’re in need of some fresh air. It works with the Samsung Smart TV transmitting the data over WiFi, while the phone uses the app to receive the video.

Users can also make use of any Smart TV apps that have been installed on the TV for added functionality on their Galaxy S II phones. The Samsung Smart View is now available on the Android Market for the Samsung Smart TV D7000, D8000, and D9500 series. Currently only the Samsung Galaxy S II is the only phone that supports it, though Samsung is planning to release it for the Galaxy player (YP-GB70) in July, the original Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab later this year.
