Physically, the new models are rounder and smaller compared to their predecessors, measuring 44.65mm x 44.65mm, making them roughly the size of an Apple TV. Underneath the hood lies a Broadcom 2835 SOC, an 802.11n radio, a microSD memory card slot, Bluetooth connectivity and a reset button – no longer do you need to unplug the box whenever an app freezes.
Strangely enough, the XS is the only model that retains the Ethernet jack, although the highest end model drops support for dual-band Wi-Fi. The main difference between the HD and XD models would be the XD’s ability to support 1080p video, whereas the XS model will include a USB port with a new RF remote. No word on pricing or availability just yet, you will just have to hold tight to your seats as we await official information.
