Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 debuts

Panasonic has just launched its latest Micro Four Thirds shooter known as the Lumix DMC-GF3, where it will continue where the now legendary GF1 and subsequent sequel, GF2, left off. Featuring a mirrorless setup, the Lumix DMC-GF3 is currently the undisputed king as the smallest and lightest digital interchangeable lens camera with a built-in flash from Panasonic, tipping the scales at just 7.83oz (body only), which is definitely slightly less than your everyday 8oz cup of coffee that you pick up on the way to work every morning.

The GF3 is said to come with similar image quality comparable to those from a large DSLR-sized 12.1-megapixel sensor, sporting advanced image processing technologies to boot. You will be able to use the range of Micro Four Thirds lenses in the market, including Panasonic’s very own 3D lens.

Other hardware specificaitons of this shooter include full High Definition 1080/60i video recording capability, the ability to shoot 3D still photos with the right lens, extremely precise Auto Focus (AF) and accurate auto exposure and white balance. Just how much do you need to fork out for the GF3? Well, it will come in black, white, red and brown bodies, sporting a $699.99 price point with the 14mm lens kit system from July onwards, while those who want the 14-42mm lens kit system will have to pay $599.99 later this August.
