We all know the MeeGo-powered Nokia N9 handset was officially launched in Singapore this week, pleasing a lot of people who have been looking forward to the device since forever. But do you know how the phone came about or what did the designers have to go through from the phone’s inception to completion? If you’re interested, fortunately official Nokia blog has posted an interview with the Nokia N9’s head designer, Anton Fahlgren, to bring us behind the scenes.
Fahlgren explains the choices behind using polycarbonate for its body (so that antennas would work better) and shape of the device (so it is easier to use the swipe gestures that begin off-screen) and the choice of colors of the phone. It’s a pretty interesting read if you’re curious about the design of the N9 and the philosophy behind the designer’s choices, you can check it out here.
