It makes perfect sense for older consumer electronics devices drop in price after some time with newer models in the pipeline or already on store shelves. The Nintendo DS Lite is no different, and it has been a faithful money making servant of Nintendo for many years already. From June 5th onwards, expect the DS Lite’s price to drop to a mere $99.99, so those who placed an order yesterday might just be cussing since they could have used the extra money saved to pick up a second hand classic title like Mario Kart DS.
It must be said that what was once touted to be the “third pillar” for gaming giant Nintendo ended up being the best-selling video game system in history, moving over 48.9 million systems in the US alone. Hit titles are also in abundance after so many years, so half a dozen Mario games for the Nintendo DS will receive new red packaging as well so that it is easier for consumers to identify these hit titles in stores.
The six Mario titles? They are New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, Super MArio 64 DS, Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! and Mario Party DS. If you haven’t yet purchased a DS Lite, what are you waiting for? [Press Release]
