Unfortunately, it is still around. Confused yet? According to a recent comment from a Motorola spokesperson, the CEO’s statement about Motorola moving away from the name has been confirmed. But it’s not what most users have hoped it would be. Instead of getting rid of MOTOBLUR or dropping it from future Motorola handsets, Motorola will only be dropping the name. Elements of MOTOBLUR will still be in their upcoming Android devices, just that they won’t be named MOTOBLUR.
It looks like wishes of being able getting a stock Android smartphone from Motorola are still far from coming true (the XOOM tablet gets stock Honeycomb though). While other companies have been said to be getting more open with their Android devices (HTC, Sony Ericsson, LG), with most of them providing unlocked bootloaders (or easy ways to unlock them) and some even loading their phones with stock Android, it looks like Motorola won’t be hopping on that bandwagon just yet. How many of you root your phones just to get rid of MOTOBLUR?
