MetroPCS launches visual voicemail

We all know the benefits of visual voicemail by now: the ability to “listen” to messages without having to put the phone up to your ear, easy archiving of messages that you can use search to locate what you need, and the elimination of having to remember numbers or addresses from memory – just read the voicemail. Most carriers have already gotten the service, Sprint with Google Voice and AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon with other apps and services. Now, MetroPCS has announced that its own visual voicemail service as well.

Called Visual Voice Mail and Visual Voice Mail Plus, MetroPCS customers finally get to experience visual voicemail on their devices. Visual Voice Mail, the more basic version of the service lets users listen to messages with one click or browse voice messages visually and see the contact’s profile picture. Visual Voice Mail Plus however takes it a step further and provides text transcriptions of voicemails as well, letting users read their voice messages.

The Visual Voice Mail service will be available on the Samsung Galaxy Indulge, LG Optimus M, Huawei Ascend and the Huawei Ascend Sacntioned by TapouT. BlackBerry 8530 and other BREW-based handsets will support the feature in the near future. Visual Voice Mail starts at $45 for non-4G handsets and $50 for 4G handsets.
