Fans of LEGO and MMO games will be pleased to know that come July – they won’t ever have to leave their rooms ever again. The LEGO Group has just announced that it will be releasing a Free-to-Play version of its MMOG for users who would like to try out the game without paying for it first. The Free-to-Play option will limit users to a zone for an unlimited amount of time, where they can figure out and understand the basics of the game and enjoy it before deciding if they’re going to be premium subscribers or not.
LEGO Universe is an MMOG set in the LEGO Universe, letting users battle, adventure, and socialize – just like any other MMOG. Judging by the trailers, it looks like it will feature gameplay similar to the offline LEGO games they’ve released in the past, except this time it’s not tied to any blockbuster franchise but stands in its own world. Users will also get the opportunity to build their own structures with an unlimited number of bricks, which should be fun for people who would rather just build buildings instead of going on quests to battle.
LEGO Universe Free-to-Play will begin this August 2011. Find out more at the official LEGO Universe website.
