This will allow users to make video and voice calls directly from the browser itself without having to open another IM program such as Skype or MSN messenger. It would make initiating a call as simple as launching the web app in a new tab within the browser. In addition to upgrading its own browser, the company has also mentioned that they will want the technology to be implemented into its competitor’s browsers as well, so everybody can make use of the feature. After all, the best way to get anybody to adopt something you create is to make it available everywhere.
No word on when such functionality will arrive, but moves like these sure paint a bright future for Google’s fledgling operating system, Chrome OS.
