Google has just reached a new milestone with its Android operating system. According to a tweet from Android chief Andy Rubin, the company is now activating 500,000 devices daily! That’s 100,000 more than the 400,000 announced a month ago at the Google I/O conference. Here’s what his latest Tweet said:
There are now over 500,000 Android devices activated every day, and it’s growing at 4.4% w/w
It looks like the massive push of Honeycomb tablets this year is helping the Android cause grow as well, though it wasn’t mentioned how many percent of the 500,000 devices activated were tablets. At this rate that Android is growing, there’s no doubt it’s going to be the number one operating system for smartphones and tablets worldwide, and it probably won’t take too long to happen either. How many of you have contributed to this statistic or will be contributing to it this year?
