It looks like we were wrong about the Sharp Aquos Hybrid 007SH not making its way to our shores. The folks at Engadget did some prodding around on the FCC website and spotted Sharp’s upcoming clamshell phone with an FCC filing – this means that we’ll be seeing the phone in the US after all. While it isn’t the world’s first Android clamshell phone, it will be one of the more interesting Android phones we’ve seen in recent months.
The Hybrid 007SH packs a 3.4″ WVGA 3D display, a 16.1 megapixel rear camera, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and an IPX5/IPX7 waterproof body just in case you accidentally drop this phone into a puddle or bowl of punch while flipping it open. Oh, and let’s not forget the traditional cellphone numpad you get when the phone is open. Who needs virtual T9 keyboards when you can have tactile buttons?
No word on release date or pricing, but we’ll keep you posted.
