They are taking the extra time to conduct further testing of the network’s security before they put it back online. Nobody knows who has been behind the attacks, or if it’s even by the same people. The hacker collective, Anonymous, who were accused recently issued a press release denying they were behind it.
The network was scheduled to return last week but due to additional security breaches the company was forced to delay it. Further reports claiming that Sony knew its defenses were obsolete didn’t go down too well with the public. And with reports of its shares dropping at the end of last week over the whole debacle, things sure aren’t looking good for the company. Will the recently issued apology and Welcome Back package be enough to make up for the disaster? Only time will tell.
