Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network is not even more than half a year old, so that can only mean one thing at the moment – early adopters will more or less experience super fast speeds since there are relatively fewer users compared to the overcrowded 3G networks. For those who want to make the switch over to the speedier 4G LTE network, you can always check out the recently approved Novatel Wireless E362. This is an internal LTE modem, so one can expect to see this puppy being part of the optional system specifications in different notebooks later this year. Powered by Qualcomm’s MDM9600 chipset, you will be able to rely on CDMA/EVDO on the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz bands, GSM/GPRS on all four 850/900/1800/1900 MHz bands, and even 42 Mbps HSPA+ on the 850/900/1900/2100 MHz bands – all when there is no Verizon 4G LTE support.
The E362 will also play nice with tablet devices, but seeing that this will place some level of noticeable battery drain, you might want to look out for an open Wi-Fi network first. After all, having yet another data line to pay for might be too much on your monthly budget if you’re walking a tightrope already.
