Coming at you guys hard today is Nintendo and a slew of new cheaper Wii games and new Wii bundles. Nintendo is really trying to get you to spend your hard-earned dollars on some old Wii games. First up is a new series of budget “Nintendo Selects” games including Animal Crossing: City Folk, Mario Super Sluggers, Wii Sports and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Smash Bros. Brawl (not pictured). Each of these four games will retail for $19.99, putting it in line with Nintendo’s old “Player’s Choice” budget line games that ended after the GameBoy Advance and GameCube era. Both Sony and Microsoft have their own line of Greatest Hits and Platinum Hits games, so what took Nintendo so long? Nintendo published games are notorious for holding their original MSRP until the end of time.
Next up is an official price cut for the Wii. Last month, retailers slashed $20 off the Wii bringing the console down to $170, but Nintendo will go another $20 and bring it down to $150. Shoppers will be able to choose either a black or a white Wii with Mario Kart Wii, one nunchaku, one Wii Remote Plus and one plastic steering wheel shell.
Looks like a great deal. With the Wii 2 not launching until after April 2012, there is no better time to be a Wii owner than now. If you don’t already have one, buying one now will give you the most bang for your buck.
