The crew over at xda-developers were the ones responsible to turn things up by a notch, where they used a recompiled version of Tiamat 1.4.2 while cranking out an extra 100MHz to touch the 1.6GHz mark. This meant the XOOM purportedly touched 4,000 points in Quadrant’s benchmarking app, which is far out considering the standard XOOM managed a mere 1,500.
Of course, when you take into consideration such high clock speeds, it would mean a much shorter battery life – far from what the original model offered. Still, we won’t recommend you getting your XOOM run at such speeds in the long run, as productivity always trumps pure speed.
