microSD memory card slot still gimped on Motorola XOOM
Yes, so we have heard that the Motorola XOOM will be receiving a new Android 3.1 Honeycomb update, where it will speed things up by quite a fair margin apart from all the other bells and whistles that come along with it, but what else can one look forward to in the update? In order not to disappoint you, let it be said that the microSD memory card slot still fails to work – a good three months after the XOOM has hit the market. That is kind of sad, don’t you think so? We do look forward to the day where this issue will be fixed, and everyone can move on and pick on another flaw. As to whether it is a software or hardware flaw, do find out after the jump.
The answer lies in the hardware, as other Honeycomb-powered tablets to date have yet to report any issue concerning the microSD memory card slot, so according to the law of probability, it is Motorola who needs to get the whole thing sorted out.
As the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is being prepared to hit the market soon, we are surprised to see Motorola adopt such a relaxed attitude concerning what many would deem to be a major hardware flaw. Does this mean Motorola has thrown in the towel, and has decided to let Samsung “win” where Android 3.0 and above tablet devices are concerned?
