Everything that is supposed to arrive at retail stores in the US where consumer electronics are concerned would do well to go through the FCC’s battery of tests, and the same is true for the recently announced Kobo eReader Touch Edition – picking up FCC approval for its Wi-Fi connectivity. The Kobo Touch Edition will interestingly enough, go head to head with Barnes & Noble’s new Nook Simple Touch Reader that is coming out this June 10th.
Just a quick recap in case you are not quite sure you know what you’re getting into with the Kobo Touch Edition – first of all, your eyes will definitely appreciate the 6″ E Ink display that works great even under bright sunlight so you need not strain your eyes trying to read what is displayed, 2GB of internal memory to stash away your digital tomes, a Freescale 508 processor, Wi-Fi connectivity and an SD memory card slot.
Measuring 4.5” x 6.5” x 0.4” and tipping the scales at 7.05 ounces, the Kobo Touch Edition will play nice with both EPUB and PDF formats, while those who have some spare change can always purchase eBooks from the Kobo Store with more than 2.3 million titles to choose from.
