Last week’s explosion at the Foxconn factory in China was reported to have claimed two lives and put sixteen more people in the hospital. Well as of today, the company has confirmed the loss of one more life and nine of the injured staff are still in the hospital. No word on the cause of the explosion yet, but rumors and initial findings have pegged “an explosion of combustible dust in a duct” as the reason as to what caused the initial flame is still unknown.
Production has been stopped at that plant and at similar plants as well, which should kick Apple’s iPad 2 production woes back into gear again. Perhaps Apple will be looking to get another manufacturer to do the job instead. More details as we get them. But for now, we wish the remaining victims a speedy recovery from this disaster.
