F-Browser brings Flash to iOS

Right now, if you want to watch Flash videos on your iOS device, you look for an alternative website that contains iOS-friendly video, you use an alternative browser such as Skyfire, or you jailbreak your iPhone and install apps that let it happen. Retina Software has just announced the launch of their new web browser – called F-Browser (we assume the F in its name is supposed to mean Flash).

Anyhow, what sets F-Browser apart from other browsers such as Skyfire is that instead of sending Flash videos to an external server for conversion, F-Browser uses the iPhone to download and convert Flash videos into an iOS-friendly format with the browser itself. This allows users to replay previously converted videos they’ve watched on their phone without having to load it up again.

Retina Software hopes “to see F-Browser as the second browser on every iPhone. An iPad version is scheduled for release very soon.” But judging by the six 1 star ratings the app has received on its iTunes page, it doesn’t look too promising at the moment.
