Sony’s been facing some tough times recently, with their PSN (PlayStation Network) servers shut down for over a week, and yesterday it was their SOE (Sony Online Entertainment) servers that got turned off due to the discovery of another security breach. While they promised a free month of PSN Plus to their PSN subscribers, some people weren’t happy about it because even with the free month of PSN Plus, it didn’t change the fact that they lost valuable game time for MMOs like DC Universe Online.
Since SOE went down – which means even if players had PSN access, they couldn’t play DCUO; Sony has come up with “welcome back” plan for DCUO players as well. All DCUO players will get 30 days subscription credit for free, and an additional day for each day the service is unavailable, which basically means free game time for everyone. All players will also receive a special Batman-inspired mask (which we assume won’t be available normally in-game).
Sony has also mentioned that they will be merging the US and European PC and PlayStation 3 servers into four super-servers to reduce queue times. Hopefully players will stick around long enough to reap the benefits. How many of you are suffering withdrawal symptoms from not being able to log on to DCUO?
