Microsoft has just had a boo-boo concerning the secrecy of their Windows Phone 7.5 update, confirming it to be Mango as it is being prepared to roll out later this year. While the majority of company officials have yet to make an announcement or an official stand concerning the version number, several departments have named “Mango” as Windows Phone 7.5.
One of the earlier slips concerning Windows Phone 7.5 by Microsoft occured at the MIX11 conference that happened earlier this month, and a new reference to the update has been spotted under the Microsoft Partner page which says in a post, “Preview the New Windows Phone OS 7.5″.
According to Achim Berg, Corporate Vice President of Windows Phone Marketing, newer changes that will be introduced in “Mango” will be part of a platform release, and while the final branding was not revealed, he did drop hints that said changes are large enough to warrant a new release and point increment. It is said that the Mango update is tipped to be an interim before the platform is steered towards both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Well, only one thing we can do in such a situation – play the wait and see game.
