The V7 Vantage Webcam 300 will follow one of the more traditional form factors, where even the stand seems to be stuck sometime in 2000 – simply because it is meant to be placed on the edge of those fat CRT monitors – instead of a clip that will sit securely and comfortably atop a flat LCD display these days. The resolution is rather disappointing at VGA (640 x 480 pixels), but at least there is a built-in microphone – all for $14.95.
At least the V7 Elite Webcam 2000 looks more of 21st century material, where it will boast a 2-megapixel sensor with auto focus capability, not to mention a built-in microphone, HD video capture capability at up to 1600 x 1200 resolution, richer colors and smoother video if you love indulging in virtual video calls. Needless to say, we think this $29.95 well spent is much better compared to the 300 model. The folks over at Logitech need not fret if this kind of “competition” are around. [Press Release]
