Details for Toshiba’s upcoming flagship HDTV, the 55ZL1 have been announced, and it has also been given a release date. The HDTV that will be the first of many to be powered by their new CEVO-ENGINE, has the capabilities to perform 2D to 3D conversion, 3D depth control, HDD video recording, Auto Calibrations and a face recognition that switches to your personal settings after it identifies you with its integrated camera. This means that you no longer have to reconfigure the TV every time you sit down in front of it, just in case you share the TV with another videophile in the house who has different preferences from you. In fact, even channel lists can be personalized, so you don’t have to scroll through a whole list of channels you don’t watch when channel surfing. It also comes with WLAN to support Toshiba’s SMART-TV online platform for users to stream, purchase and share web-based content. The 55″ model will be available in Europe this May, though we don’t have a price at the time of writing. Toshiba also plans to make more affordable versions of the TV later this year, so don’t fret if you don’t have the moolah to dish out for a 55″ TV, you’ll still be able to enjoy the CEVO-ENGINE-powered TVs in smaller sizes.
