Wireless charging could potentially spread to a much wider platform than ever before, as TI expands the reach of wireless charging tentacles with its next-generation, Qi-compliant wireless power receiver chip – and the kicker is this, this chip is 80% smaller than its predecessor, and to put it bluntly, it is very, very small.
This will open up a whole new world of wireless charging since it will be a whole lot easier for manufacturers to implement wireless charging in a slew of devices such as cell phones, smartphones, consoles and even digital cameras. This unique chip delivers 5W of output power and a 93% peak efficiency that’s comparable to an AC adapter. No idea on when this chip will see real-life action, but we predict that it will be sooner rather than later. [Press Release]
