Samsung has just announced a new family of hard disk drives that will be adopting the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface. With the ability to transfer data at up to 5 Gb/s – 10 times the data transfer rate of USB 2.0, it will let users move a 25GB full HD movie in just four minutes. The M2 Portable will be an entry-level model and the C2 Portable 3.0 will be the premium version of the hard disk. They both feature the same internals – up to 1TB of storage and USB 2.0/3.0 compatibility. The main difference being the outer shell of the drives – the M2 will come in matt colors, while the C2 will have a more premium high-gloss cover with a crystallized pattern. The M3 station will be similar to the M2 but will come in densities of 1-2TB and is meant to accompany a desktop machine instead of being a portable drive. No prices have been announced but the M2 will ship this month, and the C2 and M3 next month.
