Following in the footsteps of Samsung’s Galaxy Player PMP (Portable Media Player), Philips has just announced an Android PMP of their own. Called the GoGear Connect MP4 Player, it’s basically a mini Android tablet without 3G. Or you could call it an Android smartphone without phone capabilities and 3G.
The GoGear Connect is the first WiFi-enabled MP4 player from Philips to offer “the full Android experience, plus superior sound experience and a world of apps and games at your fingertips.” The GoGear Connect is a PMP that features a 3.2″ capacitive display, Philips Songbird – an app for you to play and sync your music, FullSound technology to make your MP3s sound better, WiFi – for you to access the internet and Android Market to download apps, and of course support for 720p HD video playback. The GoGear also comes with a set of Sound Isolation headphones for your listening experience, with SafeSound to let you enjoy music to the max without damaging your ears.
The GoGear Connect MP4 player will be available this September, with a suggested retail price of $179.99. Any takers?
