Motorola working on a rugged enterprise Android tablet?

A detailed Motorola slide recently found its way online and detailed Motorola’s plans for creating a new Android tablet. But this time around, the Android tablet will be more enterprise-oriented. The tablet packs a 7″ (1024 x 600) display, an OMAP4 dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GH of RAM, and the unexpected: Android 2.3. It features an 8 megapixel rear camera, a 1.3 megapixel front camera, Bluetooth, and WiFi. The unnamed tablet also has some interesting features that make it stand out from the crop of current tablets: enterprise software (security, software utilities, barcode decoding etc), stylus support, signature capture, USB connectivity for accessories, and a removable Smart Li-Ion battery. It is also built to be tough- withstanding 4′ drops to plywood, IP54 sealed and the ability to function in temperatures of 0-50 degrees Celsius. Do enterprise-geared tablets need such features, and why is the tablet running on Android 2.3 – could be a case of an outdated slide? Either way, we’ve got one tablet to add to the rumor mill.
