LG Optimus Big officially announced

LG Optimus Big

LG has officially announced a new addition to their Optimus Android phone lineup. The largest phone in its Optimus series, the LG Optimus Big (LU6800) is aptly named for its huge display. LG has removed the fancy glasses-free 3D screen of the Optimus 3D and traded it in for a widescreen 4.3″ WVGA NOVA display, touted to provide bright, crisp and colorful visuals. It also packs a dual-core 1GHz processor, a 5 megapixel camera and Android 2.2 (which should be upgraded to 2.3 Gingerbread in the near future). It will also pack a front facing camera and the usual WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth capabilities.

The LG Optimus Big will launch in South Korea first, with no indication whether it will reach our shores, but if it does it will probably be rebadged as well. No prices have been announced but the phone will be released in Korea tomorrow (April 28). It looks like 4″+ screens are becoming the standard size for Android phones. What do you think of having such large screens on your mobile phone – practical or a waste of precious battery life?
