Other companies might want to go up against the MacBook Air’s market, and it isn’t surprising to see that happen anyways considering how potentially lucrative a good model might be. Lenovo has their ThinkPad X1 that has just been leaked out, where it will come with a 160GB solid-state state drive (SSD) to keep the fats out, making the X1 a mere 0.85″ at the thinnest point. Lenovo intends to ride on their reputation for strong designs by making offering a 13.3″ scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass display to boot.
Despite the slim size, you won’t find the performance of the X1 gimped in any way since it will come with a 2.5GHz Core i5 notebook processor, with up to 8GB RAM, USB 3.0 connectivity, eSATA support, an SDXC memory card reader, and a hybrid “Digital Display Port” that could output to either DisplayPort or HDMI. No idea on how long the battery life of the X1 would be though – we’re keeping our fingers crossed for 10 hours thereabouts to give the MacBook Air a real run for its money.
