Health status bar to appear in meat and fish?
For those of you who have had plenty of experience with video games, do remember those side scrolling beat ’em ups that have a health status bar on top of your enemies – the reason we ask you to do so is because of what science has done to bring that into the real world, where pre-packaged meat and fish will feature a health status bar in order to let you know whether the meat is fresh or not. Comprising of a sensor film that was developed by the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Modular Solid State Technologies EMFT in Munich, it might just revolutionize the way one judge meat freshness. The film will need to be attached to the packaging, and whenever the meat starts to decay, said meat will release smelly amine molecules which the film will react to. Using color coding (don’t be colorblind here!), bright yellow means everything is fresh, while blue means you ought to give it a miss and toss it into the wastebasket.
