It looks like Microsoft is trying to replace Safari as your default browser – without you knowing it. The sneaky folks at Redmond have just launched the new Bing app for the iPad, and instead of being just another search app, Bing for iPad does so much more. It lets you browse news, movies, images, business listings – and everything you can find through Bing, from the app itself. And it does so with a streamlined and intuitive interface including the ability to use voice commands to search. Links are all opened within the app itself, without you ever needing to load something up Safari, which is a plus for convenience sake, but is a problem when you like to surf with multiple tabs and enter web addresses manually and use bookmarks. But for folks who don’t need all those features, the Bing app could actually be the better app to use than a web browser. While key features such as printing is missing, take note that it’s only the first version of the app and you can expect it to improve. Head over to the Bing blog for more details and a demo video.
