There’s a lot more that goes into both the material science of it–how it holds up over time…but also in how it all works with the sensors.” was Schiller’s statement. He also mentioned that there were a lot of unexpected interactions between the color of the device and various internal components, and like fair-skinned humans, white iPhones need a little more UV protection from the sun. Hogwash? Possibly, but that’s all we’re going to get.
Steve Jobs was a little more ordinary, giving the response, “We obviously think about this in a generic way because you have a white iPad.” He also noted that the work the company did to get the white iPhone ready has benefited the company.
The white iPhone 4 goes on sale tomorrow – I guess we’ll see whether it was worth the wait by the amount of phones moving off the shelves then. Any of you planning to stand in line for one?
