Toyota Prius V experiences launch delay in Japan

It is no surprise that Toyota’s Prius V (2012 model) which was supposed to go on sale in the Land of the Rising Sun at the end of next month will be rescheduled, as production delays were a natural consequence of the March 11th earthquake. According to Toyota’s official statement, the company did make a mention of plant closings, supply chain issues and damage that happened to Japanese Toyota dealerships as primary reasons. Assuming all went well without a hitch (that means sans earthquake), Japan was supposed to receive both five- and seven-seat versions of the new Prius V, but folks living Stateside are less well off since only the five-passenger configuration will be made available to them, with our friends living across the pond all set to receive the seven-seat Prius. At press time, Toyota is quite confident that both the US and European launches of the Prius V are not tipped to experience any delays. Don’t fret then if you’ve placed an order from your local Toyota dealership, at least you know it’s coming.
