Sony’s operations in Japan has been disrupted by the recent earthquake, but that doesn’t mean the consumer electronics giant is going to go belly up and retire with a whimper. No sir, in fact we now hear of plans to restart a lithium-ion battery plant which was closed earlier, according to the good people over at Reuters. Sony’s plant located in the Tochigi prefecture will be opened from tomorrow onwards, but another half dozen plants which were closed post-earthquake and tsunami will remain as such until further notice. We do know that the continued closure of such plants will continue to drive up the prices for products that it rolls out as we covered earlier. Our hearts go out to the people of Japan as they continue the grim task of rebuilding their battered nation.
