The Samsung Galaxy Player that was first unveiled at CES 2011 in January has been officially announced today. The Samsung Galaxy Players are basically Galaxy S phones – minus the phone capabilities. It runs on Android, supports various multimedia formats natively thus eliminating the need to transcode or convert files before playback. This means that you’ll be able to drag and drop video content in formats such as DivX, Xvid, WMV, MPEG4 and H.264 and audio content in MP3, WMA, AAC, Ogg and Flac (audio purists rejoice!) for effortless playback. The players have WiFi for your streaming/web browsing/app needs, DLNA certification and AllShare support to ensure wireless transmission of content onto other compatible devices. With Flash support, tons of apps available on the Android Market, and cameras; your Galaxy Player can do more than just play music. Hit the break for complete specs of the devices:
Both devices run Android version 2.2 (Froyo) and will be upgradeable to version 2.3 (Gingerbread).
