Mozilla to go head to head with Chrome Web App Store

Mozilla Firefox logoIt looks like Google’s Chrome Web App Store is going to face some competition from Mozilla. The creator of the famous Firefox browser has plans to release a web store of their own, where users can download apps that work on Firefox browsers on their desktops, tablets and smartphones. But Mozilla will have on leg up on Google – they will be releasing a plug-in that allows Firefox to run apps downloaded from the Chrome Web App Store. This means that Firefox users will have access to a larger selection of apps once it launches. A release date hasn’t been mentioned but it wouldn’t be surprising if we see it included with the release candidate version of Firefox 4. This is good news for web app developers as they now have an additional store to sell their apps in.
