Google looks to Wave-to-Pay Mobile System for the Android platform
Google has started a partnership with both Mastercard and Citigroup in order to develop a Wave-to-Pay Mobile System for the Android platform, where this will utilize near-field communication (NFC), at least according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). For the customer, such technology will enable payments to be processed in a move as simple as waving your Android-powered device right smack in front of a NFC reader, and Citibank has already issued debit and credit cards which are able to activate a special Android application. There will definitely be support for future Android devices, according to the WSJ. What role does Google play in all of this? For starters, they will offer retailers data concerning their customers, helping deliver targeted ads and discounted offers to Android users who are located near their stores. Money will roll in through the sale of such ads instead of getting a commission where transaction fees are concerned.
