AT&T upset with unofficial iPhone tethering methods, begins crackdown
AT&T is currently not too happy with unofficial iPhone tethering methods which are making their rounds, and have since begun to launch a crackdown on said methods – among them including users of MyWi, which is the unofficial iPhone WiFi hotspot app that is hugely popular among jailbreakers. Customers have already been notified that their service plans will need to be updated to subscribe to a tethering plan, and this results in an automatic subscription to a DataPro 4GB package which will burn another $45 hole in your pocket each month if you decide to tether. AT&T has left some room for you to wiggle out though, if you discontinue tethering, then no changes will be made to your plan. MyWi users have already been contacted by AT&T, so we would assume that they are affected as well. It is all about the money, right?
