Amazon reported to be in negotiations for Cloud Player licenses
After launching without the consent of record labels, Amazon has decided to get its legal issues in order and has been reported to taking steps to obtain the needed licenses for Cloud Player. Due to their gung-ho actions, they’ve managed to become the first big name player in the cloud music industry, stepping ahead of Apple and Google. While they might be facing lawsuits or heavy fines if things don’t go their way, Amazon seems to have made a clever move in this case. While Amazon negotiates for the licenses, the service is still going on. In the meantime, their competitors are still waiting for the licenses in order to launch their own services, giving Amazon a head start in the market. But Amazon’s jump to the lead might also backfire, and might give other companies the courage to do so and jump in the game right now as well. It shouldn’t be too long until an agreement is reached, but in the meantime you can still enjoy the Amazon Cloud Player.
