Amazon Cloud Service announcement might pre-empt Apple’s
It seems that Amazon is about to announce a cloud-based storage service sometime this week, and if this nugget of (mis)information is true, then the online retail colossus could very well be ahead of Apple and Google in the cloud-based storage stakes. Their digital locker, so to speak, is able to hold music, movies and even electronic tomes, although it remains to be seen as to how people will react to such an idea. Not only that, music labels have yet to come on an agreement where streaming fees are concerned, since they want fees for every single stream regardless of whether it hails from an iTunes purchase or an already-owned CD. Google is reported to be testing its own cloud-based music service with employees at the moment, so it is definitely an interesting race to watch.
