Matrox Graphics Inc has just unveiled the new Matrox Extio F2208 KVM extender, a device that allows you to use a computer remotely, albeit without controlling it through internet. For those situations where the internet connection isn’t reliable, fast or secure enough for remote computing; the Extio F2208 gets the job done. With the use of the console and a fiber-optic cable, users can operate their computers from up to 1KM away. The Extio F2208 features 2 display outputs (for your monitors) and 5 USB ports (for mice keyboards and other devices) for your controlling purposes. The Extender connects to your computer through the use of a fiber-optic cable that plugs into a PCIe card that delivers raw, uncompressed data from the workstation. Though the use of this technology, users can run applications at up to 2560 x 1600 per remote monitor with uncompromised workstation performance. Designed specifically for process control rooms, dispatch centers and other mission-critical performance, this will allow critical parts of the computer (i.e. the hard disk) to be stored in a secure location.
