Tiwi device helps parents monitor kids’ driving
Driving on the road is a skill set that needs to be developed and honed over time, regardless of how much natural talent you have (and you’re not Anakin Skywalker anyways). Parents are also more often than not
pretty concerned about their offspring’s behavior behind the wheel, which is where the
tiwi device comes in handy. Having being revealed at CES earlier this month, tiwi was specially developed to function as an electronic version of that ride-along parent – it will automatically call the teen’s attention to their on-road transgressions. The tiwi is mounted on the vehicle’s windshield, sporting an accelerometer and GPS that will be wired into the vehicle’s onboard computer. This will verbally chastize teens who flout road rules, while disabling their cellphones whenever the vehicle is in motion. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule since the tiwi also makes allowance for hands-free calls to or from a pre-assigned phone number in case of emergencies.
Parents too, can have a say thanks to a web portal for the device – enabling them to set parameters such as how far over the speed limit their kids are allowed to drive. SmartZones via Google Maps can also be set up, alerting parents whenever their teens enter or exit certain predefined geographical boundaries. Expect tiwi to retail anywhere from $299.99 and $599.99 – with the final price point highly dependent on the selected data plan.
