SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC breaks 45MB/s mark

You know you’re on to a good thing when it breaks the world record – and SanDisk has done so with their latest release, the SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC, upping the ante when it comes to write speeds by achieving a blazing fast 45MB/s, which is 33% faster compared to its predecessors. Originally, the SD 3.0 specification was tipped to take off last year after Toshiba announced their UHS-I SDHC cards with write speeds of up to 80 megabytes per second, although just like many politicians, that particular promise failed to turn out as a product release. SanDisk has turned the tables with the UHS-1 Extreme Pro, coming with a “video-rated minimum sustainable write speed of 10MB/sec”. They certainly aren’t cheap at $109.99 for the 8GB SanDisk Extreme Pro version, while the 32GB capacity model will cost you a whopping $349.99. Would such a high price actually cause you to really fork out your hard earned money to get a pretty notable performance increase?
